15th RosArt ’93 exhibition opens RosArt ’93 is currently preparing to celebrate its 15th annual exhibition and you are invited to join in as they celebrate fifteen years of bringing the visual arts to Roscommon. The exhibition opens of Friday 11th of April at 8 pm in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon and continues until Sunday 13th April. Well-known local artist Noel Molloy will officially open the exhibition. A warm welcome is extended to one and all. Big Generator return to Jack’s Live Venue Big Generator are a four piece Rock Band based in Portumna, Co Galway. The Band consists of Paul Cantillon (vocals/bass guitar), Barry Conboy (lead guitar), Liam Martin (vocals/guitars /keyboards), Alan ‘ Mack ‘McEvoy (vocals/drums). Over the past few years the Band has toured extensively in the UK, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Belgium, America and of course their native Ireland playing over 250 shows a year. One of the leading forces in the Irish Music Scene Big Generator will be appearing in Jack’s Live Venue this Saturday 12th April. After 5 top twenty hits, 2 albums and numerous tours they bring their high power show to Roscommon next weekend. This is a show not to be missed. Alzheimers’ thanks Western Alzheimers wish to thank all who organised and supported the annual tea day at Roscommon Golf Club last Friday 4th April. The amount raised was €2,335.90. Cinemobile in Glenamaddy Cinemobile, Ireland’s travelling cinema, will be visiting Glenamaddy, Co. Galway at the Oaklands Hotel car park from Wednesday 16th April, to Friday 18th April. Cinemobile will be screening director Tom Collins’ highly acclaimed Irish language feature Kings. Cinemobile has also plenty to appeal to a younger audience. Based on Dr. Seuss’ book ‘Horton Hears a Who!’ is the story of an elephant who struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbours who refuse to believe it exists. Cinemobile will also be screening the Oscar winning ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’, ‘Juno, Alvin and the Chipmunks’ and ‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’. Derry man at Rooskey dance mania Dancing in Rooskey on Sunday night next, April 13th will be to the strains of Co. Derry man John McNicholl, one of Ireland’s top country singers. John will entertain the audience with his lively country dance music. Sing and dance along to hits such as ‘You are no angel’, ‘The night has a thousand eyes’ and ‘What’s a guy gotta do?’ and many others. The Shannon Key West Hotel in Rooskey is the only place to be every Sunday night from 10 pm for the very best in Irish country music.
