Dublin 1-9 Cavan 0-7 Dublin won again – this time against Cavan – but they made very heavy weather of their win in appalling conditions at Breffni Park. A goal from Alan Brogan 8 minutes from full-time was the killer blow that saw Dublin move on to 6 points (including the two they got for their ‘game’ against Cork). Cavan meanwhile stay rooted to the bottom of the table and are pointless after three rounds. Mark Vaughan was Dublin’s most impressive performer, scoring four points. Westmeath 1-10 Meath 0-8 Westmeath’s excellent form in this league continued as they beat neighbours Meath for the first time in the league in 35 years before a big crowd in Mullingar. Meath were short at least four of their first-choice forwards but they were well beaten long before the finish by a lively Westmeath side for whom Damien Healy and Denis Glennon were in top form up front. Dessie Dolan did not pay due to injury. Monaghan 1-11 Armagh 1-10 This was the game of the day in Division 2A as Monaghan scored a point from Paul Finlay in injury-time to secure the two point on offet at Clones. The game saw the return of the Crossmaglen players to the Armagh team and they almost stole the points after a thrilling game. Conor McManus scored Monaghan’s goal in the first half but Aidan O’Rourke struck late for Armagh who were unlucky to lose the game.
