Westmeath 1-11 Armagh 1-6 In a shock result, Westmeath easily accounted for Armagh who were short their Crossmaglen contingent. Three players were sent off in the game – Westmeath’s Michael Ennis and Armagh duo Enda McNulty and Martin O’Rourke were all dismissed for their second bookable offences. Westmeath led 1-5 to 0-4 at half-time thanks in large part to a bizarre goal from Martin Flanagan. Aidan O’Rourke’s penalty got the visitors back within three points late on but without their Crossmaglen players, they were always second-best. Monaghan 2-12 Cavan 0-10 Raymond Ronaghan and Conor McManus both found the Cavan net as Monaghan took the spoils in the Ulster derby at Kingspan Breffni Park. In front of 9,500 people Seamus McEnaney’s men were well on course to securing their second Allianz NFL Division 2 win at half-time as they led 2-6 to 0-4. All-Star Tommy Freeman did the groundwork for Ronaghan’s goal, while after McManus’ effort, Eoin Lennon nearly made it three. The second half was a much more even affair but Eddie Reilly’s dismissal did little for the Cavan cause.
