Rooskey singer, Eimear Reynolds, right, is no stranger to Roscommon audiences through her own solo career as well as her excellent work with the Roscommon Solstice Choir.
Eimear is due to return to Roscommon Arts Centre this Saturday (28th) as part of a national tour of her latest album ‘Say the Words’. The album was released last summer and since then Eimear has been busy performing around the country.
Eimear told the Roscommon People that she was looking forward to returning to the Roscommon venue.
“I’ve done a bit in there and it’s lovely. It’s always nice to perform in an arts centre. I like the performance to be like I’m in my living room. I’m very much about sitting down and performing songs and telling stories,” she said.
Eimear is clearly excited about the album which is an eclectic mix of Irish classics as well as some recent tracks. The title track, ‘Say the Words’, is Eimear’s own work and she says it’s all about finding her own sound and going a little further each time she performs.
“I’m coming from a classical background so it took me a while to find my sound. The album is a mixed bag with Irish classics as well as more up to date stuff. Even the title track is one of my own. I’m trying to spread my wings and go a little further each time,” she added.
Eimear has enjoyed a very busy year of performing for audiences near and far and this Saturday will provide her with an opportunity to perform for her Roscommon fans.
“Every time I go out to gigs there are familiar faces coming out to support me. Of course, the Roscommon Solstice Choir has opened doors for me too and the whole experience has been brilliant for my own career,” she said.
Eimear was also effusive in her praise of the “brilliant” Roscommon Arts Centre staff and highlighted how lucky the people of Roscommon were to have such a venue on their own doorstep.
Eimear will be joined on Saturday night by Paul Hennessy for what promises to be a wonderful night of music. Tickets are selling fast so call the arts centre box office on 0906-6625824 to book.
