Effective use of print media

County Roscommon VEC and Roscommon Community Fora have joined forces to provide some information to leaders in community organisations. The information to be shared covers the effective use of the print media.     A local journalist will do a short presentation on how to compile an article to an acceptable standard. Other items which will be covered on the night will include how to produce an effective press release, tips and techniques and the use of photographs.    Quite often voluntary organisations do not appoint PROs which can lead to inadequate coverage of events in the local papers and in other media. A large target audience is being missed by voluntary organisations given that large numbers of people read a local paper on a weekly basis.     All voluntary organisations and development organisations are invited to attend these information sessions. Three sessions with the same content are organised for three different locations and the dates are as follows. 16 th October: Family Life Centre (Boyle) 8 pm  25 th October: St. Brigid’s Community Centre (Kiltoom) 8 pm 1 st November (Kilbride Community Centre) Kilbride 8 pm   The people who have been involved in the organising of these information sessions are Howard Preston, Development Officer from the Roscommon Community Fora and Ann McNamara, Community Education Facilitator with County Roscommon VEC.
