A major event will be held in Kilbride Community Centre, Fourmilehouse, on Wednesday, October 21, to showcase the wide range of education and training opportunities available to those looking to update their skills to return to work as well as school leavers.
The Education and Training Fair is being organised by Roscommon Leader Partnership Company, in conjunction with Co Roscommon Youth Service and Roscommon Citizen Information Service.
This free event will offer a one-stop shop to those in search of education and training opportunities and will provide information on local full-time and part-time options, third-level and post leaving cert courses (PLC).
Exhibiting on the day will be in excess of 40 stands from third-level institutes and universities, including Athlone IT, GMIT, Sligo IT, Trinity College Dublin and DCU, as well as Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board, MABS and Citizen Information Service.
The event runs from 11 am to 2.30 pm and will feature a number of workshops on new employment trends, including Mapping Your Future – a guide to the CAO application process – SUSI and Eunicas – studying abroad options.
The aim of the Education and Training Fair is to increase awareness of the post-secondary
learning opportunities that are available at local and national level.
It is hoped that by increasing awareness, there will be a greater take-up of places on the various courses showcased. Students with disabilities and learning difficulties are especially welcome as the Education and Training Fair will provide details of courses and support services offered by various colleges, together with key information on the access routes for those with disabilities, and in particular DARE: Disability Access Route to Education.
