With just over a week to go Roscommon Easter Parade committee are calling on all businesses, community & voluntary based groups to get their entries in as soon as possible for this year’s parade. The committee is eager to encourage all those who have participated in the past to do so again this year, and for those who have not been part of this very enjoyable annual event in Roscommon Town to come on board and make it the most colourful and memorable one yet. The annual Easter Parade is always a landmark event in the county town and this year will be no exception with a lively mix of bands, commercial and community floats now confirmed. The Easter Parade will follow its traditional route with participating floats gathering in the Abbeytown area from 11am onwards. The parade itself will start at 1 o’clock, just after last mass, making its way down Abbey Street, then on into Church Street and up Main Street to the reviewing stand which will be situated just in front of the Bank of Ireland. Floats will then move down past The Square area to the Castle Street/Lanesboro Street Junction where the parade will end. Prizes will be awarded to floats in both the commercial and community categories. There will also be an Overall prize and a prize for the Best Shop Window Display with businesses and retailers around the town being encouraged to decorate their businesses for the occasion. Entries are now being accepted and those wishing to take part should contact Ivor Trimble on 086 – 813 0723 or Seánie Kelly on 086 – 80 90 500 or email roscommoneasterparade@gmail.com
