East West Travel celebrates 17th anniversary this week

East West Travel, one of the region’s best-known travel agencies, is celebrating 17 years in business in Roscommon town this weekend.    ‘East West,’ run by PJ and Anna May Gannon, has to all intents and purposes become a byword for quality service in the travel industry.    East West Travel will celebrate the anniversary at the premises at Stonecourt, Roscommon throughout this weekend, beginning on Thursday, 6th of March and running until Saturday evening, 8th of March.    Customers can expect cheese and wine reception as well as super spot prizes as part of the 17th anniversary celebrations.    East West Travel is a success story that owes much to the tremendous dedication of proprietors PJ and Anna May Gannon. PJ is a native of Portrun while Anna May is from Lanesboro. The couple have two children, Claire and Aoife.    PJ and Anna May have a wealth of knowledge in the travel industry which, when allied with their friendly demeanour and emphasis on quality service combines so make East West the travel agency of choice for thousands of members of the public.    PJ Gannon built up his knowledge of the travel industry during a 19-year career with Aer Lingus in Dublin. During those nineteen years he travelled extensively to almost every part of the world! This particularly applied after he was appointed Sales Manager.    After leaving Aer Lingus, PJ was appointed Royal Jordanian (Ireland) Manager. In this position he travelled throughout the Middle East, hosting groups to Jordan and Israel in particular. PJ spent eight years in that role before deciding to return to his native Roscommon.    In February 1991 PJ and Anna May opened their own travel agency, East West Travel, located then at Church Street, Roscommon.    In 2000 East West moved to their new premises in the Stonecourt Centre in the heart of Roscommon town. ‘Enjoyable’   Since 1991 East West has truly gone from strength to strength. ‘It has been a very enjoyable seventeen years,’ Anna May told the Roscommon People this week. ‘We love helping and advising customers with their travel plans and it has been a real pleasure to have built up long-standing friendships with so many of our customers.’    East West deal with all aspects of travel, from a simple trip to London to the most exotic honeymoons!    ‘Business travel is also a very important part of what we do,’ explains PJ.    Both PJ and Anna May delight in the amount of ‘return business’ they encounter. As Anna May says, they have arranged honeymoon travel for many couples and then, as the years go by, they find themselves arranging family holidays for the same people!    PJ and Anna May would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all their valued customers and they look forward to continuing in business with the support of the public for many years to come.
