Early-years providers call on Roscommon TDs to back workforce measures

Early-years providers from County Roscommon have joined calls for measures aimed at addressing staffing pressures in the childcare sector ahead of Budget 2027.

Representatives from Country Kids Childcare, Hollyhocks Creche and Playschool, Right Start Montessori and Little People’s Place were among those attending an Early Childhood Ireland briefing in Dublin.

The organisation is campaigning under the banner “End the Exodus” and says staff retention is putting pressure on Early Years and School Age Care services.

Early Childhood Ireland is calling for the Government to set a date for pay parity for graduates working in the sector, double the Graduate Premium available through Core Funding and provide three in-service days each year for Early Years and School Age Care settings.

Roscommon-Galway TD Claire Kerrane was among the politicians pictured with Roscommon providers at the event.

The proposals form part of Early Childhood Ireland’s pre-Budget campaign and represent the organisation’s policy position rather than measures already agreed by Government.
