Early goals clinch it for Castlerea

Dermot Hughes Cars U-20 Division 3 Championship Final: Castlerea St. Kevins 3-7 Eire Og 1-10

Castlerea withstood a second half rally from a brave Éire Óg outfit to land the inaugural U-20 Division Three championship title at Ballintubber last Sunday. Castlerea scored two goals in the opening 15 minutes through John Caulfield and Tom Callaghan and Castlerea led at half-time by six points.

But Éire Óg were much better in the second half and when Cathal Croarke scored a well taken goal in the 46th minute they were back in the game. Indeed, points from Thomas Greene and Mark Finan saw the margin down to one but Castlerea held firm and a Dean Manning point in injury-time saw them claim the title by two.
