Edenville House in Roscommon Town is set to receive €9 million in regeneration funding as part of a major new Government investment programme.
A total of €9.15 million has been allocated to two projects in County Roscommon under the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund, which will support 120 projects across every local authority area in the country.
The national fund, worth €409 million, is aimed at supporting the Town Centre First policy, tackling vacancy and dereliction, and encouraging the redevelopment of vacant and underused sites.
Cllr Ruth Conboy welcomed the announcement, describing the allocation as a major boost for Roscommon Town.
She said the €9 million investment in Edenville House would help deliver regeneration in the town and create attractive spaces for people of all generations to use and enjoy.
Cllr Conboy also paid tribute to Roscommon County Council, local community groups and social enterprises involved in developing the projects submitted for funding.
She said the wider investment programme would help increase footfall, support economic growth, tackle dereliction and develop community and civic infrastructure.
“When complete, these projects will leave a lasting difference in Roscommon and will help to continue to make our towns and cities great places to live, work and raise a family,” Cllr Conboy said.
The announcement forms part of a €409 million national regeneration package covering 120 projects across the State.
