€40,955 provided for local agricultural shows

A total of €40,995 is being provided to support five agricultural shows in County Roscommon this summer.

Boyle Summer Show, Castlerea Agricultural Show, Elphin Agricultural Show and Roscommon Agricultural Show (all of which are set to take place in August) and also Strokestown Show (which will happen in September) are set to benefit from Government funding announced on March 22nd.

In total, the Government has announced investment of €1 million to support some 122 shows across the country in 2024. Shows will receive a grant of €6,000-€11,000, depending on their size.

Welcoming the funding this week, Senator Eugene Murphy said, “I’m delighted to see five local shows benefiting from the Government’s agricultural show funding for 2024. This funding will allow each committee prepare for their upcoming summer show season.

“Agricultural shows bind local communities and act as a great place for local producers to showcase their wares. They deserve to receive this investment”.

The funding brings the total allocated to agricultural shows since 2018 to over €4.3 million.
