Dynamos enjoy success

Donamon Dynamos cyclists dominated the Connacht Junior Championships at Castlebar on Sunday (June 9), Tomas Feeley winning the gold medal and Michael Duffy taking the silver. The 56-miles road race was contested in gruelling, hot conditions and finished with a steep climb in the hills above Castlebar. Feeley, from Ballinagare, broke away with two senior riders, Eoghan Clifford from Galway and Daire Mooney from Sligo, in the closing stages. With Feeley’s Donamon team-mates Duffy and Simon Coughlan marking any chasing moves from the pack, the leading trio stayed clear to the hill-top finish.    Clifford was first across the line ahead of Mooney, with Feeley third overall and first junior. To complete a great performance by the Donamon Club, Duffy was next to finish and clinched the junior silver. Feeley, from Rockfield, Donamon was delighted at the finish, reckoning it was easily the best performance of his career. Duffy meanwhile had confirmed the recent good form which saw him win a stage against senior opposition of the Rás Dhun na nGall three-day.
