Dublin too strong for Roscommon

Another second-half fade-out has cost Roscommon again. This time it was against Dublin in the opening round of the All-Ireland SFC in Croke Park. Roscommon were very competitive for three-quarters of the game with Conor Cox, Daire Cregg and Diarmuid Murtagh outstanding.

Roscommon were well in the hunt in the 49th minute with the score at 0-13 to 0-12 for Dublin, but the All-Ireland champions opened up in the final 20 minutes and goals from sub Colm Basquel and Con O’Callaghan saw Dessie Farrell’s men home by 2-19 to 0-13.

Roscommon now face Mayo in Dr Hyde Park on Saturday evening next.
