Folllowing a meeting of the Hyde Park Committee held on Thursday night 3rd April the committee have decided to press ahead with the next stage of development of Dr. Hyde Park. It was felt that with the extremely slow rate of progress with the negotiations between the GAA and Roscommon Gaels on the ownership of the park, that the development of the park was being held up and games were being lost as a result. The main part of the next phase of the development of the park willl be the re-laying of the playing surface and the committee are currently talking to various companies with a view to selecting one contractor to carry out this badly-needed work. It is hoped that the job will be started later this year and that the new pitch would be ready for play in early 2009. Full details of the contract and the next phase of the development of Hyde Park will be made known over the next couple of months. The All-Ireland colleges senior football B final will be played in Hyde Park next Sunday at 2.30 pm. All members of the committee are asked to attend at Hyde Park at 1 pm sharp.
