Castlerea songwriter Susan Scully has just been shortlisted for Vodafone’s Bright New Sounds music competition. A panel of judges selected the best 20 tracks from over 400 applicants. The tracks are now free to download from the Vodafone music store. A public chart will be kept of the 20 songs over three weeks. The more downloads Susan’s song ‘Walk With Me’ gets, the greater the chance she has of winning the much sought-after record deal. Although she has been song writing for a number of years, it is only in the last few years that she has started to take the craft seriously. Susan, from Knockroe, Castlerea, decided to record an EP which will be released later this year. One song was completely ready and so Susan decided to enter it in the Bright New Sounds competition and was delighted when it was selected. You can also watch out for Susan on the live music scene in coming months. She hasn’t performed live for a while but is planning a return to the stage in 2008.
