Dooner’s weekend soccer predictions

Well it’s that time of year again folks! Judging by some of the results last weekend we could be entering a topsy-turvy season of football…luckily, we love a challenge on the sports desk!

Friday, September 9th

The Killeen Sports Grounds Division 2 (8 pm)

Shiven Rovers B v Moore United B: The visitors opened with a solid 2-0 win over Moylough, while Shiven were well beaten by Roscommon United. Moore should have too much. Prediction: Moore United B.

Saturday, September 10th

The Herald Premier Division (7.45 pm)

Castlerea Celtic v St. John’s Athletic: The champions made a winning start to the season and should be comfortable on home turf. Prediction: Castlerea Celtic.

Moore United v Ballaghaderreen FC: Much better from Ballaghaderreen last weekend. This will be another tough test and they’ll find it tough to ride their luck in Moore. Prediction: Moore United.

Norio’s Takeaway Division 1 (7.45 pm)

Glen Celtic v Lough Harps: Both sides enjoyed wins last weekend and this is a tough one to call. Sitting on the fence here. Prediction: Draw.

Killeen Sports Ground Division 2

Cloonfad United B v Ballinagare FC (7 pm): Ballinagare’s match fitness to prevail. Prediction: Ballinagare FC.

Strokestown United v Roscommon United (7.45 pm): Mouth-watering tie in prospect here. League experience or the unknown quantity? Prediction: Strokestown United.

Sunday, September 11th

The Herald Premier Division

Brazukas v Skyvalley Rovers (11 am): I fear for Skyvalley Rovers. Prediction: Brazukas.

Shiven Rovers v Ballinasloe Town (11 am): Interesting one here. Potential game of the week. Prediction: Shiven Rovers.

Ballymoe FC v Ahascragh United (2 pm): Match day in Ballymoe! The constant bridesmaids of last season to win their first game on the new pitch. Prediction: Ballymoe FC.

Norio’s Takeaway Division 1 (2 pm)

CP Ajax v Ballinasloe Town B: The Castleplunkett outfit should have enough. Prediction: CP Ajax.

Loughglynn United v Kilkerrin United: Based on last weekend, the visitors should prevail. Prediction: Kilkerrin United.

Rahara Rovers v MD Town: Another away win this weekend. Prediction: MD Town.
