Dooner’s weekend predictions – October 6th

A big five days of football in Roscommon, Dublin and Cardiff as St. Peter’s and Castlerea go head to head, Boyle and Ballinasloe look to take advantage of any slip-up and Ireland take on Moldova and a Bale-less Wales. The tension is palpable…

Special Bonus World Cup Qualifying predictions: Republic of Ireland 3 Moldova 0; Wales 1 Republic of Ireland 2. We’re Russian to Moscow lads! (If there’s any justice for Seamus Coleman!)

Saturday, 7th October

The Herald Premier Division (7.45 pm)

Boyle Celtic v Cloonfad United

The north Roscommon team beginning to motor. Prediction: Boyle Celtic

Shiven Rovers v Ballinasloe Town

The Town will be hoping to keep pace with the top three. Prediction: Ballinasloe Town

St. Peter’s FC v Castlerea Celtic

Mouth-watering tie at league HQ. The head says St. Peter’s but Celtic have a knack of getting results. Prediction: Entertaining draw

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two (7.30 pm)

Glen Celtic v Boyle Celtic B

Boyle look a cut above the rest so far. Prediction: Boyle Celtic B

Sunday, October 8th

The Herald Premier Division

Skyvalley Rovers v Dysart FC. 11 am

Dysart have struggled so far while Skyvalley haven’t been much better. The home side will be slight favourites however. Prediction: Skyvalley Rovers

Ballymoe FC v Moore United. 2 pm

Neither side has come sprinting out of the blocks this season but Ballymoe have looked alarmingly out of sorts. Prediction: Moore United

St. John’s Athletic v Ballaghaderreen FC. 2 pm

This time last year the Lecarrow side would not have been favourites for this fixture, a year’s a long time in football. Prediction: St. John’s Athletic

Norio’s Takeaway Division One

Kilkerrin United v Dunmore Town. 11 am

Dunmore have come up against some decent sides to be fair and I reckon they’re better than their league position suggests. Prediction: Draw

Ahascragh United v Strokestown United. 2 pm

The visitors should edge this. Prediction: Strokestown United

Ballinasloe Town B v Hodson Bay Athletic. 2 pm

Clash of the weekend in Division One. Prediction: Draw

Lough Harps v CP Ajax. 2 pm

The visitors will break their duck first. Prediction: CP Ajax

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two (2 pm)

Cam Celtic v Skyvalley Rovers B

The home side have looked far more impressive. Prediction: Cam Celtic

Castlerea Celtic B v Moylough ‘79

The visitors will be expected to continue their recent form. Prediction: Moylough ‘79

Roscommon United v Shiven Rovers B

A mixed bag for Shiven so far and Roscommon have been good at home. Prediction: Roscommon United
