Dooner’s weekend predictions – November 30th

This week I’m happy to report that Strokestown United comfortably rammed last week’s predictions down this writer’s throat. United were 7-1 winners over Benbulben in Sligo to follow up on their very competitive display against Shiven Rovers in the Premier Division.

Ballinasloe Town will be hoping to bounce back from their Connacht Cup elimination when they take on Westport United in round five of the FAI Junior Cup.

Friday 30th November

Raftery’s Oakland Hotel Premier Division Kilkerrin United v Cloonfad United. 8 pm

The hosts will be looking to cement their midtable position as we head towards the Christmas break.

Prediction: Kilkerrin United

Saturday, December 1st

Raftery’s Oakland Hotel Premier Division

At Lecarrow: Ballymoe FC v Shiven Rovers. 7.45 pm

Their game against Skyvalley Rovers was awarded to Skyvalley so Ballymoe will be hoping to make up lost ground.

Prediction: Ballymoe FC

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two (7.45 pm)

Glen Celtic v Castlerea Celtic B

The top two face off in Division Two. Glen have already beaten Castlerea this season (4-1) but Celtic have improved. This should be closer but the league leaders are favourites.

Prediction: Glen Celtic

Shiven Rovers B v Cloonfad United B

They’ve played out an entertaining draw already this season but Cloonfad have been impressive lately in taking points off the top three. A narrow away win provided they can replicate those performances.

Prediction: Cloonfad United B

Sunday, December 2nd

New Balance FAI Junior Cup Round 5

Ballinasloe Town v Westport United. 2 pm

The Town will have their work cut out this Sunday and while they are more than capable of progressing, the recent form would suggest an away win. I hope I’m wrong.

Prediction: Westport United

Raftery’s Oakland Hotel Premier Division

Dysart FC v Strokestown United. 2 pm

Positive signs for United recently and this is a good opportunity to begin a league revival.

Prediction: Strokestown United

Norio’s Takeaway Division One (2 pm)

Cam Celtic v Dunmore Town

There’s very little between these sides so another stalemate is the most probable outcome.

Prediction: Draw

CP Ajax v St. John’s Athletic

I expect goals here and a narrow CP win, which will probably mean a 1-0 win for St. John’s!

Prediction: CP Ajax

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two

Roscommon United v Ballymoe FC B. 2 pm

The home side will be hoping to take advantage of any dropped points involving the top two this weekend.

Prediction: Roscommon United
