Dooner’s weekend predictions – December 8th

There were a few surprising results in the provincial competitions last weekend as well as one very surprising result in the Premier Division where Boyle Celtic went down 2-0 to Shiven Rovers.

This weekend we’re back to league action and St. Peter’s will be hoping to bounce back from their cup disappointment when they take on champions Ballymoe at home this evening.

Elsewhere this weekend, Boyle Celtic are in action against Dysart in the Premier Division while there are three cracking contests in Division Two where Boyle entertain Moylough, Cam Celtic host Roscommon United and Skyvalley Rovers make the short trip to Rahara.

Thursday, December 7th

The Herald Premier Division

St. Peter’s FC v Ballymoe FC. 8.30 pm

The Athlone side are six points behind Castlerea having played three games less. They will be hoping to apply pressure this weekend.

Saturday, December 9th

The Herald Premier Division

Cloonfad United v Ballinasloe Town. 7.45 pm

Ballinasloe are in great form and if they can win their games in hand they will be serious contenders for the league title. Prediction: Ballinasloe Town

Moore United v St. John’s Athletic. 7.45 pm

The hosts can leapfrog Ballymoe this weekend.

Prediction: Moore United

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two

Boyle Celtic B v Moylough ‘79

The top two in Division Two meet in Boyle this weekend. While the winner will be three points clear at the end of the weekend, there is little to choose between both sides.

Glen Celtic v Castlerea Celtic B

Glen have been in excellent form recently.

Prediction: Glen Celtic

Sunday, December 10th

The Herald Premier Division

Ballaghaderreen FC v Skyvalley Rovers. 11 am

A huge game for Ballaghaderreen who desperately need something soon. The visitors have to be favourites and should put clear daylight between the bottom two.

Prediction: Skyvalley Rovers

Dysart FC v Boyle Celtic. 2 pm

The visitors can’t really afford any more slip-ups.

Prediction: Boyle Celtic

Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two (2 pm)

Cam Celtic v Roscommon United

In fairness to Cam, they’ve only lost twice in the league this season and both defeats came against sides in the top three. They get the nod here.

Prediction: Cam Celtic

Rahara Rovers v Skyvalley Rovers B

The hosts will be hoping to heap more misery on Skyvalley while taking advantage of any slip-up from the top two.

Prediction: Rahara Rovers
