Dooner’s weekend predictions – December 14th

There were some surprises last weekend and it now looks as though the race for the Premier Division title will go right down to the wire with a number of clubs still right in the mix.

This weekend sees the final round of fixtures before the Christmas break.

In the Premier Division, Castlerea Celtic will be looking to bounce back from defeat last weekend but they face a tricky trip to Shiven on Saturday while Kilkerrin United will be hoping to cause more problems for Ballinasloe Town on the same day. Meanwhile, Dysart host champions St. Peter’s on Sunday.

In Division One, Ballinasloe Town play host to Ballaghaderreen FC on Sunday and both sides will be desperate for the three points, albeit for very different reasons.

Saturday, December 15th

Raftery’s Oakland Hotel Premier Division (7.45 pm)

Kilkerrin United v Ballinasloe Town

This has the makings of a very good game of football and while Kilkerrin have impressed so far this season, Ballinasloe Town will be hoping to end the year on a high.

Prediction: Ballinasloe Town

Shiven Rovers v Castlerea Celtic

The visitors won’t have it all their own way here but will be hoping to get the job done to keep pace with Boyle and Ballymoe.

Prediction: Castlerea Celtic

Sunday, December 16th

Raftery’s Oakland Hotel Premier Division

Dysart FC v St. Peter’s FC. 2 pm

A St. Peter’s win will set them up nicely for a title race in the second half of the season.

Prediction: St. Peter’s FC

Norio’s Takeaway Division One

Ballinasloe Town B v Ballaghaderreen FC. 2 pm

The visitors can overtake CP Ajax and move into second place ahead of the Christmas break.

Prediction: Ballaghaderreen FC

RDFL Fixtures will recommence in the New Year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all management, players, club officials, league officials and supporters from everyone at People Sport.
