A strange weekend saw St. Peter’s crush Ballaghaderreen 7-0 and the postponement of the RDFL Shield. It seems the soccer season resumed a couple of weeks too early for some!
This weekend features some potentially mouth-watering fixtures in the Premier Division Cup Quarter-Finals.
Friday, August 18th
RDFL Premier Division Cup Quarter-Final
Cloonfad United v Ballymoe FC
(8 pm)
Cloonfad were dogged last weekend and Ballymoe will need to shake off any cobwebs early on here. Hard to look past last season’s champions however. Prediction: Ballymoe FC
Sunday, August 20th
RDFL Premier Division Cup Quarter-Finals (12 pm)
Boyle Celtic v Ballinasloe Town
This should be a stern test of Boyle Celtic’s credentials. The FAI Junior Cup Semi-Finalists won’t have things all their own way against the Connacht champions but have enough about them to get the job done. Prediction: Boyle Celtic
Shiven Rovers v Dysart FC
Shiven were clinical against Moore last weekend and will fancy their chances at home to Dysart. Prediction: Shiven Rovers
St. Peter’s FC v Castlerea Celtic
A huge test for both sides. St. Peter’s are a few punters’ early season title favourites.
However, last season’s Challenge Cup winners should be there or thereabouts at the business end of the campaign. Prediction: St. Peter’s FC
