Dooner’s weekend predictions

Saturday, March 26th

The Herald Premier Division (7.30 pm)

Ballinasloe Town v MD Town: The home side have the title in their sights once again and should have too much for MD Town. Prediction: Ballinasloe Town.

Castlerea Celtic v Cloonfad United: Both sides enjoyed good wins last time out but Castlerea will take some stopping between now and the end of the season. Prediction: Castlerea Celtic.

Norio’s Takeaway Division 1 (8 pm)

Glen Celtic v Loughglynn United: The visitors could put daylight between themselves and  Glen in the table but Glenamaddy is not an easy place to win a mid-table battle. Prediction: Draw.

Sunday, March 27th

The Herald Premier Division (12 pm)

Dysart FC v Skyvalley Rovers: Both sides were well beaten last time out but Skyvalley will fancy themselves to get a result here. Prediction: Skyvalley Rovers.

Ballaghaderreen FC v Moore United: Ballaghaderreen were ultra-impressive last weekend and should have scored more than five. Moore have been impressive for most of the season and could all but end the home side’s title chances. Prediction: Moore United.

The Roscommon Cup Round 1 (12 pm)

Brazukas v KC Celtic: The form book usually goes out the window in the cup but this should be a straighforward win for the home side. Prediction: Brazukas.

The Roscommon Cup Round 2 (12 pm unless stated)

Skyvalley Rovers B v Shiven Rovers (11 am): Again, there should be a gulf in class here but don’t be surprised if the home team make it difficult for the free-flowing Shiven. Prediction: Shiven Rovers.

Ballinasloe Town B v Cloonfad United B: Easy win predicted for the home side. This cup is always going to be difficult for the lower ranked Division Two teams. Prediction: Ballinasloe Town B.

Lough Harps v Moylough ’79: Cup tie of the weekend and guarantees a Division Two side progressing to the next round. I wouldn’t be surprised if this requires extra-time. Then again, Harps have looked like a Division One side all season. Prediction: Lough Harps.

Monday, March 28th

The Herald Premier Division (12 pm)

Castlerea Celtic v Ballymoe FC: Bank Holiday football and time to run off those Easter eggs! Huge game and egg-citing times (sorry) for Castlerea as they look to stay in the hunt. This could prove to be a defining weekend for them. Prediction: Castlerea Celtic.

The Roscommon Cup Round 2 (12 pm)

Ballaghaderreen FC B v Rahara Rovers: This is an interesting one. Ballaghaderreen are slight favourites. Prediction: Ballaghaderreen FC B. Just about.

Loughglynn United v CP Ajax: Another interesting tie, and this time I’m siding with the Division Two side. Prediction: CP Ajax.
