Dooner’s weekend predictions

Following a quick phone call to Roscommon & District Football League official, Vincent Brooks, I can now tell you the permutations involved in this year’s relegation/promotion play-offs.

Three teams from Cloonfad United, MD Town, Dysart FC and Ahascragh United will be playing First Division football next season, while the last one standing will join Shiven Rovers, Brazukas and the magnificent seven in the Premier Division.

Elsewhere, Rahara Rovers are fighting for their Division One lives as they take on Division Two side Moylough ’79.

Saturday, May 28th

Division 1/Division 2 Promotion Relegation Play-off (7pm)

Rahara Rovers v Moylough ’79: Rahara will be fighting for their lives but Moylough will have promotion in their sights. Difficult to call but Rahara have only won two league games this season. Prediction: Moylough ’79.

Sunday, May 29th

The Herald Premier Division Cup Final (12pm)

Ballymoe FC v Moore United: I might just wander down to the county pitch in Lecarrow and watch this. Ballymoe have been impressive but Moore United just shade it. Prediction: Moore United.

Premier Division/Division 1 Promotion Relegation Play-off (2 pm)

Cloonfad United/MD Town v Dysart FC: At the time of going to print the Cloonfad v MD game had yet to finish. So here goes nothing. Cloonfad will just edge MD Town before a mammoth tussle with Dysart. Cloonfad will be Premier Division next season. I think. Prediction: Cloonfad United.

There is a good chance that this will be a bad week prediction wise.
