Last weekend was always going to be difficult to call and it doesn’t get any easier as a rollercoaster season reaches its climax. Ballinasloe Town will be looking to rescue their season this evening (Thursday, 19th) against a Ballymoe side who have been impressive of late.
Thursday, May 19th
The Herald RDFL Semi-Final (8 pm)
Ballinasloe Town v Ballymoe FC: This one takes place at Cloonfad, and sees a Ballinasloe side hampered by suspension and poor recent form. This could signal the end of their cup run. Prediction: Ballymoe FC.
Sunday, May 22nd
The Herald Premier Division (2pm)
Ballymoe FC v Skyvalley Rovers: Ballymoe have been impressive lately and while this is a busy week for them they should have enough in the tank to finish their campaign on a high. Prediction: Ballymoe FC.
Ballinasloe Town v Moore United: Both sides need a win but for very different reasons. Moore will need to win to have any chance of lifting the title, they also need a huge favour from MD Town. Ballinasloe just need a strong finish to restore some pride. Prediction: Draw.
MD Town v Castlerea Celtic: Castlerea are one win from the title. They have been the most consistent team and should get the result they need. Prediction: Castlerea Celtic.
Cloonfad United v Dysart FC: This is a tough one to call, both sides have struggled this season but life is tougher at the top. Prediction: Dysart FC.
Ballaghaderreen FC v St. John’s Athletic: The home side’s season hasn’t lived up to its earlier promise. St. John’s have been in good form recently but should still find this trip difficult. Prediction: Ballaghaderreen FC.
Division 2 Cup Final (11 am)
Skyvalley Rovers B v Lough Harps: This has been an enjoyable tournament but it’s no real surprise to see the champions in the final. Lough Harps are the best team in this division and should wrap up their season in style. Prediction: Lough Harps.
