Dooner’s weekend predictions

The Roscommon & District League are in action against Mayo League in the Oscar Traynor Cup this Saturday. The game takes place at the RDFL grounds in Lecarrow and the home side will be hoping to start their campaign with a win as they face both the Clare and Galway League sides away from home.

While playing 5-a-side last weekend, I was accused of ‘bottling’ the Ballinasloe Town and Moore United prediction. I don’t know whether this was an attempt at mind games or whether it was a sincere complaint so just to be safe I’ll explain myself.

In my defence, had I predicted the game as part of ‘weekend predictions’ I would have predicted a draw…honestly. Unfortunately, the game was fixed for Monday night, which isn’t part of the weekend. ‘But it was a Bank Holiday’ I hear you cry. I was working on Monday so it just felt like a normal day to me!
