Donie out, Devaney returns

Donie Smith has received a one-match suspension for his involvement in the incident with Keith Higgins in last Saturday’s Allianz League match between Mayo and Roscommon at MacHale Park.

The player and the County Board were informed by the CCCC on Wednesday morning. It means that the Boyle man will not be available for the match against Monaghan at Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday.

Roscommon are, however, hopeful that new Kerry recruit, Conor Cox, will be available to take some part in Sunday’s game against Monaghan. Some loose ends have to be tied up with regard to administration but those issues are expected to be cleared up in time for Sunday.

Meanwhile, Conor Devaney is expected to return to the Roscommon squad for Sunday’s game. The Kilbride man has recovered from injury and will most likely be on the bench.
