In his acceptance speech a jubilant captain Frankie Dolan was full of praise for the effort put in by the Brigids players in winning the three-in-a-row. ‘The effort the lads put in was incredible. I am very proud of them all. There were people who told us that we hadn’t the bottle or the hunger to win this three-in-a-row, that we might have lost interest. Well, here is the answer to that’ he said, holding up the Fahy Cup defiantly. Frankie also feels that this St. Brigids team can go much further. ‘We know that we have a good team and I can tell the people listening out there today that we intend to go all the way this time’ he said to the cheers of the Brigids’ supporters. And the Brigids captain had a parting word for the Roscommon senior fooball team management before he headed off with his team-mates for the post-match celebrations. ‘I have a word for the Roscommon senior football team management: pick the best players in the county and you will win the Connacht Championship in 2008’ he concluded. Whether he was referring to himself being included for 2008 is a moot point and one for discussion over the next few months.
