‘Disgust’ at graffiti on new Square

Local residents and business people have expressed “disgust” and “deep disappointment” following the discovery of graffiti on the new-look Roscommon town Square this week.

The graffiti which was spray-painted on the newly-paved footpath outside the front door of the Bank of Ireland was discovered on Monday morning.

Local councillor and Chairperson of Roscommon Tidy Towns, Kathleen Shanagher said she was “disgusted” by the act of vandalism.

“What can I say? I’m just disgusted by this, I really am. After all the praise the new Square received at the recent Christmas Festival, to discover this is appalling,” she said.

“I would urge anyone who saw anything or who may have been walking in the area and noticed anything suspicious, to contact Roscommon Garda Station with any information”.
