Roscommon Arts Centre in partnership with Roscommon Arts Office presents ‘Difference & Repetition’, an exhibition by Brothers of Charity, Roscommon with artists Karl Burke and Padraig Cunningham which opens at Roscommon Arts Centre on Friday, January 19th at 6 pm.
Difference and Repetition is the second installment in a series of workshops designed and implemented by the artists with Roscommon based Brothers of Charity groups.
The workshops covered a range of artistic practices including sound/music, drawing and painting, collage, clay modeling, performance and video with the guidance of the lead artists. A number of these workshops took place in the theatre space at Roscommon Arts Centre. The theatre stage allowed the participants to move between being a performer to taking a seat as an audience member.
A large, slightly raised platform or stage will be positioned in the gallery referring to the contact between performer and audience, viewer and artist. A number of microphones will be positioned directly on the surface so that the stage will come alive with sound.
Supported by Roscommon County Council Arts Office in partnership with Roscommon Arts Centre, this project is aimed at developing partnerships between artists and wider Roscommon communities while also encouraging learning in new media for the participants.
