All-Ireland Hardball Singles Final: Congrats to Dessie Keegan of Ballaghderreen on winning the All-Ireland Seniors singles title at Mullingar. In a fine contest he defeated his clubmate Vinnie Moran in the third game. Dessie lost the first game by a point but he improved to capture the title he last held in 2006. Indeed it is a fantastic season in Hardball for the Ballaghderreen Club. They have two players in ther junior singles semi finals. Joe McCann plays Brian O’Carroll of Meath and the impressive Paul Flynn plays the powerful Dominick Lynch of Kerry. Great times for Ballaghderreen and it would be remarkable if either Joe or Paul were to win the Junior Singles. The 2008 Residential Handball Summer Camp: This Handball Camp will be held at Gormanstown College the weekend of 18-20 July. Entry on the official form. Cost 150 euro per juvenile. Galway) One Wall singles tournament: The Moycullen Club membership one wall tournament was exciting and the Club went to endless efforts to make it a splendid success including a barbecue and Comans’ Oisin Naughton reached the semi final of Division One losing out to Martin Connelly in the tie-breaker. This was a good prelude to the upcoming Irish Nationals had One Wall National wins by Martin Bruen (Lisacul), Niall Gordan (Comans) and Leona Doolin (under 18 singles) and several other Roscommon players did very well. The Hospital Club, Limerick, 60×30 Doubles Tournament: Out of luck in this tournament were Aengus Cunningham and Christopher Doolin, losing out in the first round. Connaught 60×30 boys and Girls Under 14 Tournament: This tournament is sponsored by Walter O’ Connor and Hugh McGarry and will be held on Saturday 5th July at suitable central venues in Connaught. Entrants must be under 14 years on the 1st of January, 2008. Entries on the official form with a five euro fee. Closing date Monday 23rd June, 2008. This is an inaugural Boys U-14 and Girls U-14 60×3 doubles tournament. Each club is asked to send players. Entry forms from the club, county secretary or provincial secretary. Leinster 60×30 Open Tournament: This tournament is on 14-15 June at Wexford venues. The following are the events: Mens doubles, ladies open singles, J.B doubles, Masters ‘B’ singles, Boys U-17 singles and Girls U-17 singles. It is on the face of it an unusual list of events. Certainly, the underage players are poorly catered for and there is no junior event. Fees – Single adult is €20, Doubles €40, and juvenile €10. County 60×30 Championship: The County 60×30 championship gets underway on the 16th July and games will come fast and heavy. Fixtures to follow. Feile na nGael: On the 21st June Feile takes place at Clogh for the Roscommon girls Lauren O’Riordan, Fiona Tully, Caoimhe Shanagher, Sarah Keenan, Tanie Ferguson in group two of the Division one on the 21st at 10 am against Clooneyquinn of Clare. The boys of Comans are Colm Walshe, Conor Egan, Gary Kelly, Alex McDermott and Cathal Shanagher and they play in Division two against Ballyhogue of Wexford at 9.30 am in Kilbeggan.
