Oran businessman and well-known Roscommon GAA follower Des Whyte has said that his commitment to sport in Roscommon will remain despite the sale of his company Sierra Communications last week. Sierra Commuinication have supported Roscommon minor footballers for the past number of years and famously in 2006 when the team won the All-Ireland title. Speaking to The Roscommon People yesterday (Wednesday) DesWhyte said ‘The sale will not change anything as far as I’m concerned. We will still be supporting the Roscommon minors as before. I’ll still be working for the company as an advisor so nothing will change.’ Des has also supported boxer Mathew Macklin (who has Roscommon connections) in recent years and he has also committed to continuing with that sponsorship too. ‘The sale will not change the sponsorship situation’ the entrepreneur concluded.
