The Junior Cert results will finally be issued to over 600 Roscommon students this afternoon.
Nationwide, a total of 67,130 students sat the exam in the summer, with 633 from Co. Roscommon. The State Examinations Commission said: “This year marks a welcome return to externally delivered Junior Cycle examinations for all candidates and the first year in which all examinations are being delivered under the reformed Junior Cycle curriculum”.
This issuing of results has also been delayed considerably this year, with the students having sat their exams five months ago. Commenting on this delay, the State Examinations Commission has said that the pandemic had made “pre-existing significant difficulties” in recruiting teachers to mark exam papers even more difficult. They also said that the recruitment and retention of teachers is now an “urgent whole of system issue”.
Any candidate unable to attend school can access their results online on www.examinations.ie from 4 pm today.
