Cpl. David McKenna from 6th Inf. Boyle was one of the few members of the Irish Reserve Defence Forces to march with the ‘Defend with Pride’ group at last Saturday’s annual Pride Parade in Dublin City.
The Defend with Pride group is the Irish Defence Forces LGBT group and was set up by Sgt. Richard Muldarry, who is based at Custume Barracks in Athlone.
For the first time in the history of the state, the Irish Defence Forces marched in the annual Pride Parade in Dublin with their Chief of Staff.
Over 100 soldiers and officers from the Irish army, navy and air corps were led by the Defence Forces Marching Band from Cork in what was a very unique and amazing atmosphere.
Ex-soldiers and their families were clearly moved as they marched through Dublin.
