Death of former Roscommon footballer

Former Roscommon footballer John Lynch, who won an All-Ireland Minor title for the county in 1951 before going on to play in the 1962 All-Ireland senior final defeat to Kerry, sadly passed away yesterday following an illness. He was in his mid-80s.  He was a successful roofing contractor in Co. Galway and his brother Colman’s company, Lynch Roofing Systems, sponsored Roscommon GAA in the 1990s.

Mr. Lynch, who played at full-back for Roscommon, hailed from Cloontowart, Lisacul and played his club football with Loughglynn, Michael Glavey’s and Tuam Stars.
