The Roscommon Youths A team took home the Shield from last weekend’s All-Ireland inter-county event in Ennis. Following the difficult Cup group stages, Roscommon beat Waterford B (3-1) in the quarter-finals of the Shield before repeating the result against Laois B in the semi-finals. This set up a final showdown with Carlow, and the Rossies edged it 3-2.
The Roscommon B team performed well before exiting the shield at the quarter-finals stage where they were beaten by eventual finalists Carlow.
In the Youths Singles event, which had over 65 entries, Tom Byrne made it to the semi-finals.
Closer to home, the league finals will take place in Hannon’s Hotel on Saturday, March 25th with An Bothar Rua taking on McDermott’s for the cup and Flanagan’s playing the winners of Creaton’s and The Hollywood in the Shield.
