Darts ranking season begins

The Irish National Darts Organisation’s new ranking season will begin proper with Cavan County Singles event in Bailieborough next weekend. It will be first of over a dozen darting events taking place over the next eight to ten months. In the end the top ranked players will have earned the opportunity to play for Ireland in major darts events in Britain, Europe, and across the world.    In recent years Padraig Kearney 2003 (Castleplunkett), and Martin Murphy (2006) of Elphin have represented Ireland Senior mens darts team in the annual Northern Ireland v Rep. of Ireland Challenge.     A number of Roscommon players gained some valuable but early ranking points at the I.N.D.O.’s Intercounty Darts Championships in February which went very well for the county. It is hoped that a good number of these players will make the effort to travel to the upcoming events. Details of all national and international events can be viewed on R.T.E. 2 teletext page 426.
