Curraghboy Bóthar auction raises over €4,000

 

Four in-calf heifers sponsored by Cam Bóthar Committee were part of the Bóthar consignment of 70 in-calf heifers that will arrive to their host families in Romania this week. 

  These heifers were purchased from the fundraising activities of the Cam Bóthar Committee throughout the year and the many private donations received. Since 2004, the Cam Bóthar Committee have sent 59 heifers in total to various countries as part of the Bóthar project.

  There was a fundraising auction and raffle in McDermott’s Lounge, Curraghboy on Saturday, 28th of October. The main event of the evening was an auction of livestock and other items. A raffle was held in conjunction with the event and some individuals gave private donations.

  PJ Finnerty, Chairman of Cam Bóthar Committee, thanked all those who donated the animals and other items for auction, those who sponsored raffle prizes and those who gave private donations.

  He also praised the contribution of Ultan Burke to the auction down the years until his untimely death last March. He expressed thanks to the McDermott family for hosting the auction and their generous support of Bóthar in purchasing a heifer. He finally thanked Pat Muldoon for providing the music and those who attended on the night. A total of €4,279 was raised at the Curraghboy auction.
