Crucial All-Ireland games this weekend

All-Ireland senior Doubles semi final at Kingscourt: Dessie Keegan and Joe McCann (Ballaghaderreen) are through to the All-Ireland final. They had a comprehensive two game win over Eoin Kennedy and Ejin Jensen of Dublin. They won the second game 21 14 and deserved every point in it. All-Ireland Ladies senior doubles semi final at Kingscourt: Marianna Rushe and Leona Doolin from the Comans Club had their first taste of senior fare at its best going down 21 4, 21 9 to Fiona Shannon (the World Senior Singles Champion) and her sister Sibeal McKenna of Antrim.  Emerald ‘A’ semi final at Cappagh: In Connacht Seamus McHugh and Liam Grehan (Curraghboy Club) looked good and won out the province in style and they continued that form at Cappagh beating Paddy Buckley and Dave O’Riordan of Cork 21 19, 11 6 when one of the Cork players had to retire injured. Masters ‘A’ doubles All-Ireland semi final at Curraghboy: Curraghboy was the venue for this semi final, that saw the Tipp pair of John McQuaide and Pat O’Flaherty beat the local team of Ger Walshe and Cormac O’Brien 21 14, 21 11.  Connacht 40×20 Community Games final at Ballaghaderreen: Results of the games to hand. In the U-13 girls’ event Roscommon beat Sligo 105 points to 17 and Galway beat Mayo. In the final Galway easily defeated Roscommon winning all seven games. Roscommon won the girls’ U-15 title beating a weak Mayo team 100 pints to 41. In the Boys U-15, Roscommon beat Sligo and Galway in the final. Good displays by Colm Walshe and Mark Nally sealed victory for them. All-Ireland 40×20 Juvenile semi finals at Munster Venue: At the time of going to press the venues for the semis are not to hand. In U-15 singles Aoife McDonagh (Glaveys Club, Clooncan) plays Orlaith Duggan of Clare and it is possible that game is at Clooney. In the boys’ U-17 doubles Fergal Fitzmaurice and John McDonagh (Clooncan) play Sean Harte and Darren Moore of Tipperary.  Connacht Juvenile ‘B’ Championship: In the girls division a top class performance by Caoimhe Shanagher and Fiona Tully (St. Coman’s) over Sligo’s Sinean Naughton and Aoife Quinn was one of the highlights of the games. Ladies Junior ‘B’ double semi final at Comans: This junior ‘B’ semi final at Comans was a pulsating match with four players giving their best over one hour and twenty minutes. Clare’s Sara Loughnane and Sarah O’Donnell were the winners beating Linda Connolly and Siobhan Tully (Roscommon) 4 21, 21 14, 21 20. Ballymoe-Ballincurry Handball Club: The Ballymoe Ballincurry Club with its excellent 40×20 Club in Ballincurry made a rapid impact on the Juvenile scene (boys and girls), in the recent Juvenile ‘A’ Connacht finals in Ballinrobe. Enda Conneely beat Moycullen 9 15, 15 11, 15 13 in U-12 singles and in the U-14 doubles Galway beat Fergal Dowling and Louis Mulhern (Ball. /Ballincurry). Minor singles All-Ireland semi final at Ballaghaderreen: Well done to Stephen Cooney (Ballaghaderreen) who turned out a superb display to defeat Diarmuid Nash of Clare in the minor All-Ireland semi final. University of Limerick One Wall Competition: Three Comans girls and Lisacul’s Joan McNulty (UL) took part in the Ladies section of One Wall Competitions at UL on Saturday last. Full results are not to hand but in the Ladies Singles Marianna Rushe emerged the winner beating Katie Costello (DIT) in a lively final. Earlier Katie had a narrow win over Deirdre Donohue (UL). All-Ireland semis and finals: Noel Raftery and Pat Clarke (Roscommon) go to Tuamgraney to play Jimmy Walshe and PJ Counihan of Clare in the Diamond ‘A’ Doubles semi final with the winners meeting C. Sheridan and Patsy Hand of Cavan. At Crinkle Sunday at Noon (All-Ireland finals): Ladies Intermediate Doubles: Marianna Rushe and Katie Costello (Comans) versus Ciara Mullins and Miriam Ryan (Carlow) Minor Singles: Leona Doolin (Roscommon) versus Shauna Hilley (Wicklow). Both games will be close with hopes high for two Roscommon All-Ireland titles. Curraghboy Sunday noon: There are three finals scheduled starting at noon with the premier match – the Golden singles between Kevin Geraghty of Mayo and John Brennan of Kilkenny. At Mullingar on Sunday at 2pm: There are four All-Ireland finals at Mullingar. Roscommon have Niall McGrath and Neil McDermott in action in junior doubles against David Hope and Neil Murphy of Offaly. Both teams had lots of action and some marvellous handball on the way to what should be a thrilling final between two evenly matched pairs. Roscommon get a slight nod to come out on top.  All-Ireland Ladies Junior ‘B’ singles final at Abbeylara: Linda Connolly of Comans, after a heart-breaking defeat in the doubles semi final 21 20 in the third game now goes in search of the singles final at Abbeylara. Her opponent in the classy Avril McNamee of Donegal.
