Croan’s rally to send Faithleach’s down

Hodson Bay Hotel Group SFC Relegation Play-Off

St. Croan’s 1-16

St. Faithleach’s 1-14

St. Faithleach’s’ season went from bad to worse in Strokestown last Saturday when they lost to St. Croan’s and as a result will play intermediate football in 2020.

The Ballyleague men started well and Diarmuid Murtagh was on fire as they led 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Indeed when county star Murtagh blasted home a brilliant goal in the 43rd minute it looked like Faithleach’s would escape relegation, but Croan’s never gave up the battle.

The Ballintubber men fought back and aided by Keith Muldoon’s opportunist goal they led by a point going into injury-time.

Diarmuid Murtagh drew the sides level but Croan’s would not be denied and Cathal Connelly and Muldoon pointed to hand their side a priceless victory.
