Cregg appeal fails as Roscommon lose key man for Mayo clash

Roscommon footballers will have to plan without Boyle star Daire Cregg for Sunday’s Connacht semi-final against Mayo after his appeal against a red card issued by referee Brandan Cawley during the quarter-final game against New York failed at a meeting of the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee on Monday night. The committee reviewed the referee’s report and decided that the red card should remain in place. It means a one match ban which rules Cregg out of Sunday’s game against Andy Moran’s side.
