The Ireland Reputation Index, powered by RepTrak, is an annual study that surveys over 5,000 members of the public to gauge their perceptions of 100 key organisations in Ireland. The study, conducted from January to March 2026, assesses organisations based on trust, respect, admiration, and esteem. In this year’s assessment, credit unions achieved a remarkable reputation score of 81.7, making them one of only two organisations to earn an ‘Excellent’ reputation rating.
Credit unions have consistently been perceived as the most fair, friendly, genuine, and sincere organisations among the 100 studied. They lead in Conduct, the most critical driver of reputation in Ireland, and are highly trusted by the public to act correctly, even in challenging situations. This level of trust is further emphasised by their top ranking when the public was asked if they would “give them the benefit of the doubt in a crisis.”

This year, the credit unions’ top-tier performance highlights their exceptional standing among Ireland’s most important and familiar organisations.
