Creative projects reach over 3,000 young people across Galway and Roscommon

More than 3,000 children and young people across Galway and Roscommon took part in projects supported by the Creative Youth Partnership in 2025, according to a newly published Creative Ireland report.

The partnership worked with more than 70 organisations to provide opportunities in art, music, filmmaking, dance and other creative activities, particularly for young people facing barriers to participation.

In Roscommon, young people and their allies developed digital art campaigns promoting respect and inclusion, with their work shared online and during Pride celebrations.

Other projects across the region included podcast production for young people with disabilities or long-term illnesses, animation workshops for Ukrainian children and youth-led dance groups.

Rural initiatives included Sparkcatchers!, through which participants made willow lanterns and created a window installation in Glenamaddy.

The partnership forms part of Creative Ireland’s network of Local Creative Youth Partnerships, bringing together artists, youth services and community organisations.

Participants’ experiences are also being documented through the GRETB Creative Youth Stories series.
