County Roscommon Broadband Survey 2007

Roscommon County Development Board and Roscommon County Council are currently carrying out an audit of broadband availability in County Roscommon.  The purpose of the County Roscommon Broadband Survey is to get an accurate picture of broadband availability with the aim of ensuring that there is full broadband availability in County Roscommon. The Government recently announced the National Broadband Scheme to provide broadband coverage to the last 10% of Ireland currently without broadband.  The Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources have carried out a mapping exercise on broadband availability throughout the country.  It would appear from the national map that there is very high broadband coverage in County Roscommon.  It is vital to get an accurate picture of where broadband is and is not available throughout the County to ensure that all areas get coverage under the National Broadband Scheme. A short survey questionnaire is being made available through County Council headquarters and area offices, libraries and Citizens Information Centres throughout County Roscommon.  The survey questionnaire is also available online at www.roscommoncdb.ie and www.roscommoncoco.ie .  We would ask you to take a moment to complete the questionnaire as it is very important that it reflects the views of as many people in County Roscommon as possible.  The information from the completed survey questionnaires will be compiled into a report that will be sent to the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources for consideration under the National Broadband Scheme. Completed questionnaires must be returned to the Community & Enterprise Department of Roscommon County Council before the 7th December 2007.   Further details of the County Roscommon Broadband Audit are available from the Community & Enterprise Department at (090) 6637325 or rcdb@roscommoncoco.ie
