In Castlerea, the recent men’s 15-hole was won by Tony Brophy with 34 points, ahead of Eddie Campion in second place. This month’s first competition was won by Paul Glynn.

To Roscommon we go, where Gerry Harlow won last Sunday’s competition with 37 points ahead of PJ Moran in second on 35 points. The turkey competition was won by Clement McCormack with 22 points.

Over in Athlone, Alacoque O’Connor won the recent ladies competition while Ann O’Sullivan and Margaret Byrne enjoyed recent success in 12-hole competitions. Elsewhere, Frank O’Regan, Denis Earley, Jed Rowlands and Ned Broughall were recent turkey winners.

We finish this week’s tour in Athlone by extending our sympathies to the family of Johnny Bracken who passed away suddenly last week. Johnny served as Hon. Secretary and PRO and also proudly represented the club on teams as well as entertaining everyone with his poems and songs. Our condolences to his wife Mary and daughters Nicola, Maria, Fiona and son John, extended family and many friends. May he rest in peace.
