While many people will be taken up with the sporting events going on in Roscommon town this weekend, others will be heading in a different direction, to the Connacht Fleadh which takes place in Dunmore. The Fleadh takes place from July 5th to 8th in Dunmore. The Fleadh gets underway on Thursday night in the Community Centre with a traditional concert, a tribute to flute player Joe Collins. The official opening will be held in Twiggs bar on Friday night, July 6th, with the opening by Sean Canny, Mayor of Galway, at 9 pm. A session will get underway after the opening. Competitions start in the secondary school at 10 am on Saturday and continue into Sunday. Apart from the competitions, there will be music, singing and dancing on the gig rig in the Square.
