Community is about volunteerism. It’s about friendship. It’s about one’s roots. It’s about shared values. About looking out for one’s own place.
It’s about the here and now, and about future generations as well.
A community highlight of 2025 happened in Elphin. After several years of planning, a wonderful project came to fruition.
Guests gathered in August to celebrate the fruit of the collective endeavours of all stakeholders.
There was positivity, pride and joy as the Palace NeighbourWood Park and Sensory Garden was unveiled.
Committee members, fellow locals, dignitaries from different walks of life all gathered for this special occasion.
The new amenity is on the grounds of the Elphin Windmill site. This beautiful park will bring such pleasure to the people of the area, now and for decades to come.
Congratulations to the people of Elphin, to those who had the vision to see what was possible, and to those who toiled to make it happen. One notes too the support of various agencies, with Roscommon County Council to the forefront.
It was a proud day for Elphin. Future generations – not yet born – will savour this gift, this legacy.
