Comans’ duo in Dublin success

County Junior B Singles: With Nigel Neilan through to the Junior B Singles final all that was left was to decide the semi-final at Curraghboy between Paul Kelly of the local club and Nigel’s Comans colleague, Oisin Naughton.    Paul was marginal favourite but a late surge from Oisin gave him a 21-20 win in game one. Kelly responded with a 21-13 win. Naughten went 9-0 up in the next and while Kelly tried valiantly he could not overcome his opponent with the Comans man winning 21-9 after a magnificent semi-final. Gerard Walshe of Curraghboy was the referee. Oisin Naughton now meets club partner Nigel Neilan in a county final which promises to be another close game.  Junior B Doubles Final at Comans: A stunning display by John Kennedy and Steve Joyce of Ballymoe as they took the County title, beating Nigel Neilan and Oisin Naughton of Comans 20-21, 21-17, 21-18. Joyce had a marvellous game and got strong support from left-hander Kennedy.  Novice Singles: Brian Neilan (Comans) showed too much class as he easily beat Andrew Sheedy (Curraghboy) in straight games at Comans.  Co. Dublin 40×20 Junior Doubles Final: At the Dublin Championships Niall McGrath and Shane Hennelly, both from St. Comans, won the Dublin Junior doubles title in the UCD colours, beating Brian Boru’s James Egan and Brian O’Reilly 21-17, 19-21, 21-13 in a marathon. Well done lads.  St. Brigids Handball Members Doubles Tournament: Semi-finals
