Roscommon U15 players for coaching academy For the third year Roscommon will have 17 U15 development squad players attending the three-day Connacht coaching residential academy which is being held in the NUIG campus in Dangan from next Wednesday June 18th to Friday June 20th. 7 hurlers and 10 footballers have being picked by the county. GAA games manager Willie Hegarty and full-time coaches Peter Carney and Prionsias Killian will be travelling with the players. Roscommon coaching and games development will be providing transport to Galway and polo shirts for all players. A meeting for all the players and their parents will be held on next Monday night, 16th June in the County board GAA offices at 9 pm sharp. Primary schools skills star challenge dates and venues The response to our new skills star challenge in both football and hurling initiative which tests the skills of players in both codes has generated great interest among all the 6th class boys and girls in the majority of primary schools. Each child is tested on 10 different skills with their strong and weak foot in football and weak side in hurling. The County final for boys will be held in Kilbride GAA Park on Tuesday evening June 17th at 4 pm and the girls final on Thursday evening, June 19th, also at 4 pm. The hurling skills for boys and girls will take place in Dr.  Hyde Park on Friday June 20th at 4 pm. All our part-time coaches will be informing all schools this week regarding the competition.   Connacht U14 hurling feile in Galway  This year’s Connacht U14 hurling feile will take place in Dangan on this Saturday, June 14th with Roscommon having two squads on the day which commences at 11.15 am sharp. In group one Roscommon are in with Galway (1), Galway (2) and Mayo. In group 2 Roscommon (2) and Mayo (2) are grouped with Sligo and Leitrim. Camogie blitz day for Tulsk and Roscommon Gaels schools Roscommon camogie development officer Michael Carroll has organised two camogie blitz days for primary schools in both Roscommon Gaels and Tulsk club areas. Michael has being coaching in all schools in both clubs over the past four weeks. The one for Roscommon Gaels is on this week, while the blitz day for the Tulsk schools is on Monday, June 23rd and will be held in Castleplunkett NS at 11 am.  Roscommon U14 development squad camogie blitz day Last Saturday Roscommon county U14 camogie development squad took part in a special blitz day in Cloghan, Co. Monaghan. Teams taken part were Roscommon, Monaghan, Louth and Cavan. More details in the coaching corner next week on how the girls got on.  U15 football development squad coaching session The next coaching session for the county U15 football development squad is on Saturday June 21st in Kilbride at 10 am sharp and there is the possibility of a game with Longford.  VHI Roscommon cul camps forms to be returned We would ask all parents to return the VHI Roscommon cul camp forms for the various venues in both football and hurling to GAA games manager Willie Hegarty at the Roscommon County GAA board office ASAP.
