Football development squads ready to resume We will be commencing our U-14/U-15 football development programme very shortly. U-14 will be in four regions on a Tuesday evening and will commence on April 1st while our U-15 development squad will meet every Saturday morning in Kilbride, starting on April 5th. All clubs and players will be notified with all the information by our co-ordinators. Part-time football and hurling coaches meeting On this Friday, March 28th a meeting for all our part-time coaches in both football and hurling will take place in the Roscommon County Board GAA office at 1 pm sharp. Football foundation course part two in Clann Na nGael Part two of the South Roscommon football foundation course will take place in the club grounds of Clann Na nGael on next Monday night, March 31st at 7 pm sharp with a practical session by Peter Carney. St. Aloysius College in All-Ireland semi-final action On this coming weekend St. Aloysius College will play in the All-Ireland Colleges senior C football semi-final against Kenmare of Kerry. U-14 football feile competition on going The Roscommon U-14 football feile competition continues every Wednesday evening and will soon be at the closing stages. Best of luck to Roscommon U-21 team The coaching corner would like to wish the Roscommon U-21 football team the very best of luck in the Connacht championship semi-final on Saturday. Connacht 2nd year football championship Once back at school next week all Roscommon second level colleges will be in action in the first round of the Connacht College’s 2nd year football championships in both B and C competitions. Connacht level one hurling course A Connacht GAA hurling level one course will take place in Ballinasloe over the weekend, April 4th and 5th. Play and stay with the GAA in May The month of May nationally in the GAA will be known as ‘stay and play with the GAA in May’ and here in Roscommon we will be holding U8-U10 Go Games blitzs in both football and hurling. The Roscommon coaching and games development have 13 centres in football and 4 in hurling organised for the blitzs. Each club within the county will have to host two blitz evenings at U-8 and U-10 level. All our blitzs will be either 7-a-side or 9-a-side to ensure that every boy or girl that arrives will play in all games. VHI Cul camp students for Roscommon camps Any third level students wishing to work on our annual VHI GAA cul camps in both football and hurling are asked to apply to GAA games manager Willie Hegarty ASAP. Coaching experience would be a help. Letter of application to Roscommon GAA County Board office, Castle Street, Roscommon town. Roscommon minors have free weekend This weekend is round four of the Connacht minor football league and Roscommon have a free one. The last game for Gary Wynne’s side is against Galway on Saturday, April 5th at a Roscommon venue. 1st year football secondary school blitz day On Thursday, April 10th Roscommon coaching and games development are holding a 1st year football blitz day for all secondary schools in Co. Roscommon at St. Faithleachs GAA grounds in Ballyleague. Full-time coach Peter Carney will be informing all schools of the details. 2nd year football secondary blitz day On Thursday, April 17th Roscommon coaching and games development are holding a 2nd year football blitz day for all the secondary schools in the county at the St. Faithleachs GAA grounds in Ballyleague. Primary school football and hurling coaching in April We will be back in all primary schools on Monday, April 7th for the first of our two ten-week coaching cycles in 2008.
